In partnership with SLOCATA and the EVC, the San Luis Obispo County Regional Airport commissioned a survey to gauge travel patterns of our community.  The survey received over 2,000 responses, a record.

The data collected will enable the Airport to show which destinations are most in demand and not currently served by airlines in SLO ultimately creating a better picture of where future air service development efforts should be focused.

The Department of Transportation has a program entitled “Small Community Air Service Development” that helps small non-hub airports with monetary support.  This bill has $8 million that may be disbursed to a number of communities across the United States.  The San Luis Obispo County Regional Airport needs your support by being a partner in their $500,000 application for this grant (more).

About SLOCATA :: The EVC and the San Luis Obispo Chamber of Commerce joined forces to help the airport retain and attract airline service at the county airport by forming the SLO County Air Transportation Alliance (SLOCATA), comprised of a group of business leaders who understand the importance of a vital local airport. Working closely with airport management, the Alliance is also advocating for making certain infrastructure improvements at the airport. The Alliance and airport management are also working together to help expand existing service at the airport, and the EVC is commissioning an air market study to provide information and strategies necessary to create more vitality at the airport.
