Economic Profile
The economy and the population of San Luis Obispo continue to grow steadily. From 1995 to 2005, the population in San Luis Obispo County grew more than 15% overall. The civilian labor force increased 32% while employment increased 35%. Personal income increased 83%, per capita income increased 59%, and county wide retail sales increased a dramatic 100%. The Gross County Product has continued to increase over the years and is currently at $11 billion as of 2005. The County has also experienced a 3% increase in real taxable sales per capita in 2005.
