The Employment Development Department is a public employment service for the State of California serving employers and job seekers statewide. The One-Stop Career Centers of San Luis Obispo County provides services for residents of San Luis Obispo County by meeting the needs of employers and those seeking jobs, education, and training. The One-Stop Career Center is also a place for local employers to recruit employees, access employee training, and learn more about the local labor market and employment trends. Local agencies and organizations have joined together to establish a "One-Stop Career Center System." Career Centers in a single location have all the information for local residents who are seeking:

  • Work: a first job, a new job, a better job.
  • Training: what is available, where, when, what it would cost, and past performance.
  • Education: what is available, where it is available, how long it takes, what it costs.

Provides funding and assistance to eligible job and training (or education) seekers who are seeking work but lack necessary skills and experience. Also works with local employers to help pay the cost of training and placing potential employees in jobs on their workforce. Trained staff provide job and career counseling; vocational aptitude and interests; job placement and follow-up; contract management; business presentations; and currently working on creation of a county-wide One-Stop Career Center system with four locations around San Luis Obispo County.
