Infrastructure planning, financing, and prioritization are all challenging issues that the region of of San Luis Obispo County faces similar to other counties in California. With a shortfall of funding at the federal, state and local levels, maintaining safety and capacity to adequately meet existing demands and new growth has become very challenging through traditional sources of funding. Public-private partnerships, community investment and innovative finance are potential ways to address these challenges. This requires continuing to foster strong collaboration between the private sector business community and local government
Led by members of the Building, Design and Construction Cluster, the Infrastructure Subcommittee is designed to address the challenges by providing a venue for collaboration on government policies. The participants in this initiative also advocate for high-impact infrastructure projects to ensure they are prioritized in the approval process.
This group evaluates private industry investment opportunities, collaborates with the county on priority infrastructure projects, and serves as a central location for infrastructure planning information.
